Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program will Accept PTE Exam

The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) has adopted the Pearson Test of English (PTE) Core, administered by Pearson Canada, Inc., as an accepted proof of English proficiency. This update aligns with recent federal policy changes and applies to all OINP streams where English language proficiency is required, including OINP Expression of Interest (EOI) points claims.

Applicants who have received an Invitation to Apply (ITA) or Notification of Interest from the OINP after January 30, 2024, can now utilize the PTE as one of the accepted language proficiency tests. This change provides applicants with more options to demonstrate their language skills and meet program requirements.

As of this date, the PTE joins other recognized tests for English proficiency within the OINP framework, offering greater flexibility for applicants to showcase their language abilities and enhance their eligibility for immigration to Ontario, Canada.
