Express Entry: IRCC Issues 6,000 CEC Invitations in Largest Draw in Over 16 Months

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has conducted a major Express Entry draw, issuing 6,000 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) under the Canadian Experience Class (CEC). This marks the largest CEC-specific draw in more than 16 months, highlighting Canada’s renewed focus on transitioning temporary residents to permanent status.

Draw Details

Program: Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

Invitations Issued: 6,000

Minimum CRS Score: 520

Tie-breaker Rule: Candidates must have created their Express Entry profile before 5:30 p.m. (UTC) on July 15, 2025

Only candidates who met the minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score and satisfied the tie-breaker condition were considered for this round of invitations.

What This Means for CEC Candidates?

The Canadian Experience Class is designed for skilled workers with qualifying Canadian work experience. This draw demonstrates IRCC’s commitment to retaining international talent already contributing to Canada’s labour market.

Although the CRS cut-off remains relatively high, the large number of invitations issued significantly improves opportunities for eligible CEC candidates, particularly those with strong language scores and skilled Canadian work experience.

Looking Ahead

This draw may signal increased Express Entry activity for the Canadian Experience Class in the coming months. Candidates currently working in Canada are encouraged to:

Maintain an active Express Entry profile

Improve language test scores where possible

Ensure work experience documentation is accurate and up to date

Strategic preparation remains key as IRCC continues to adjust draw sizes and CRS thresholds based on labour market needs and immigration targets.
