Victoria Launches 2025–26 Skilled Visa Nomination Program for Onshore and Offshore Applicants

Victoria Opens 2025–26 Skilled Visa Nomination Program

Victoria has officially announced the opening of its 2025–26 Skilled Visa Nomination Program, welcoming skilled professionals from both within Australia and overseas to apply for state nomination.

The program continues to be one of the most sought-after pathways for skilled migrants who wish to live and work in Victoria permanently or regionally.

Interim Program Details

The Department of Home Affairs has provided Victoria with a small interim allocation for the start of the program year. The full program allocation for 2025–26 is expected to be confirmed in the coming weeks. Once received, Victoria will publish complete details regarding nomination priorities, target occupations, and selection processes.

The current interim visa nomination allocations are as follows:

Skilled Nominated Visa (Subclass 190): 200 places

Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa (Subclass 491): 180 places

This limited interim allocation ensures that Victoria can begin assessing and nominating skilled candidates while awaiting the complete quota from the federal government.

Eligibility and Application Process

Applicants can submit a Registration of Interest (ROI) to be considered for nomination. The program is open to both:

Candidates currently living and working in Victoria, and

Skilled professionals residing offshore who meet eligibility criteria.

To improve your chances of selection, ensure that your skills and occupation align with Victoria’s current labor market needs.

Existing Registrations of Interest (ROIs)

Victoria has confirmed that active ROIs from the previous program year will remain valid and will continue to be considered under the 2025–26 program.
You do not need to submit a new ROI unless there have been changes in your personal or professional details (such as employment, visa status, or occupation).

What’s Next?

Victoria’s full 2025–26 skilled migration allocation and nomination guidelines are expected to be released soon after confirmation from the Department of Home Affairs. Once published, the Victorian Government will outline key selection priorities, updated eligibility requirements, and any changes to target sectors.

Skilled professionals interested in migrating to Victoria are encouraged to:

Keep their SkillSelect EOI and ROI up to date,

Review the eligibility criteria for subclasses 190 and 491, and

Monitor official announcements for full program updates.
