Queensland State Nomination Process – Skilled Migration Overview
Queensland offers state nomination through the Skilled Migration Program, helping skilled workers, graduates, and business owners move to and work in the state. State nomination adds significant points to your visa application and shows that a state government supports your settlement in Australia.
Eligibility for Queensland State Nomination:
To be considered for nomination, you typically need to meet both federal and state-level requirements, which differ depending on your pathway. Here's a breakdown of key eligibility requirements:
1.General Criteria:
A valid Expression of Interest (EOI) lodged via SkillSelect.
A skills assessment for your nominated occupation.
A minimum points score (usually 65+, but often higher depending on occupation competitiveness).
Meet English language requirements.
Relevant work experience (varies by occupation).
2.Specific Pathways:
Queensland has several nomination streams:
Pathway | Who It's For | Additional Requirements |
---|---|---|
Onshore Skilled | Applicants already living and working in Queensland | Must be employed in a nominated occupation |
Offshore Skilled | Skilled professionals outside Australia | Occupation must be in demand in QLD |
Postgraduate (Graduate) | Recent graduates from Queensland universities | Must have completed a degree and meet work/study requirements |
Small Business Owner (SBO) | Migrants who own and operate a small business in regional QLD | Must purchase and operate an existing business |
Business & Investor Stream (Subclass 188/888) | Business owners, investors, and entrepreneurs | Financial thresholds and business background required |
Check eligibility:Ensure your occupation is on the Queensland Skilled Occupation List (QSOL) and that you meet federal/QLD criteria.
