Australia State Nomination Programs – Current Status & Key Requirements (November 2025)
Queensland (QLD)
Program requires applicants to be currently employed in Queensland or offshore in a skilled role.
Minimum 1 year of relevant work experience required.
Applications submitted via EOI + ROI.
South Australia (SA)
Requires 3 years of skilled employment within the past 5 years.
Existing EOIs remain valid.
Applicants may be considered for both Subclass 190 and Subclass 491 streams.
EOI required (ROI needed only for onshore applicants).
New South Wales (NSW)
Program is open. No minimum work experience requirement currently published.
Residency requirement:
Minimum 6 months for Subclass 190 residents in NSW.
Minimum 3 months for Subclass 491 residents in regional NSW.
Only EOI required.
Victoria (VIC)
Program is open. No stated minimum skilled work experience requirement.
EOI and ROI both required.
Applicants selected based on workforce contribution and occupation demand.
Australian Capital Territory (ACT)
Program is open.
Nomination assessed under the new ACT Nominated Migration Program Occupation List (formerly the ACT Critical Skills List).
Eligibility is linked to points and occupation availability.
Both EOI and Matrix required.
Tasmania (TAS)
Program is open with multiple pathways (e.g., Skilled Employment, Graduate, Established Resident).
Subclass 491 and 190 visas open for select sectors only.
Offshore Applicants:
ROI required for Job Offer Pathway only.
OSOP 491 Pathway currently closed. Offshore applicants may only apply with a valid job offer.
Onshore Applicants:
ROI required.
Northern Territory (NT)
Not currently open for new skilled nomination applications.
Western Australia (WA)
Program is open across both General Stream and Graduate Stream pathways.
Priority given to candidates already living and working in WA.
Eligibility linked to points and occupation availability.
