IRCC’s Express Entry Invitation Schedule for Category-Based Draws in 2025 Revealed
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has outlined its plan for Express Entry invitations to apply (ITAs) for the remainder of 2025, shedding light on which sectors may see the most opportunities.
Key Highlights
Priority Categories: Education, healthcare and social services, and trades are expected to feature prominently in the upcoming draws.
Immigration Levels Plan Alignment: The 2025 ITA schedule is closely tied to Canada’s Immigration Levels Plan 2025–2027. Most invitations issued in the second half of 2025 are designed to help Canada meet its 2026 admissions targets.
ITA Allocations for 2025 (as per ATIP)
Category | Total ITAs Planned in 2025 | ITAs Issued So Far (2025) | ITAs Remaining in 2025 |
---|---|---|---|
Education | 3,000 | 1,000 | 2,000 |
Healthcare | 8,000 | 7,500 | 500 |
Trades | 3,300 | 0 | 3,300 |
Category-based draws are expected in the final months of 2025, particularly for education and trade occupations.
The Six Categories in 2025:
IRCC’s category-based draws currently target candidates with in-demand skills in:
Healthcare and social services occupations.
STEM occupations.
Trade occupations.
Agriculture and agri-food occupations.
Education occupations.
French-language proficiency.
Francophone Immigration Push
Canada remains committed to boosting Francophone immigration outside Quebec.
Between February and March 2025, French-language rounds issued 18,500 ITAs over an eight-week period.
An additional 2,500 ITAs were issued in a French-proficiency draw on August 8, 2025, likely contributing to 2026 immigration targets.
This aligns with the federal government’s objective to achieve 8.5% Francophone admissions in 2025.
Coordination with Provinces and Territories
The ATIP also revealed that IRCC will provide provinces and territories with an ITA calendar, giving them a three-month outlook on:
Expected weeks for rounds,
Types of draws, and Projected minimum scores.
This move will help provinces and territories better align their Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) with federal Express Entry draws.
What this means for applicants?
If you are in education, healthcare, or a trade-related field, the coming months may present strong opportunities to secure an ITA. Candidates with French proficiency should also remain optimistic as the government continues to prioritize Francophone immigration.
