Prince Edward Island PNP Conducts Second Immigration Draw of 2025, Prioritizing Local Workers and Graduates

Prince Edward Island PNP Conducts Second Immigration Draw of 2025, Prioritizing Local Workers and Graduates

The Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) held its second immigration draw of 2025 on February 20, issuing 87 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) under the Labour & Express Entry stream. This draw aimed to strengthen the province’s workforce by selecting individuals who are already actively contributing to the local economy and addressing key labour shortages.

Focus of the Draw

The February 20 draw primarily targeted candidates who have demonstrated a strong commitment to living and working in Prince Edward Island. The selection criteria emphasized two key groups:

Skilled Workers in Priority Sectors

Invitations were extended to individuals currently employed in economically impactful occupations and priority sectors that align with PEI’s labor market needs.

Candidates selected under this category were required to have resided and worked in PEI for a minimum of one year, showcasing their long-term commitment to contributing to the province’s economic development.

International Graduates from PEI Institutions

The draw also prioritized international graduates who completed their education at one of Prince Edward Island’s post-secondary institutions:

University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI)

Holland College

Collège de l'Île

These graduates are considered valuable additions to the local workforce, having already integrated into the community through their education and employment.

Strategic Impact of the Draw

By focusing on skilled workers and recent graduates, PEI aims to retain talent that is already familiar with the province’s workforce and lifestyle. This approach enhances economic stability and addresses skill shortages while ensuring long-term population growth.
