Western Australia January 2026 Invitation Round: Skilled Trades and VET Graduates Targeted

Western Australia January 2026 Invitation Round: Complete Occupation List Released

Western Australia has officially released the results of the January 2026 invitation round under the State Nominated Migration Program (SNMP). Invitations were issued on 12 January 2026 across the General Stream and Graduate Stream, supporting nominations for the Skilled Nominated (Subclass 190) and Skilled Work Regional (Subclass 491) visas.

This round primarily focused on skilled trade occupations listed under WASMOL Schedule 2, as well as eligible graduates under the Vocational Education and Training (VET) Graduate Stream. Invitations were issued based on a combination of factors, including location of residence, priority industry sectors, EOI points score, and the date the EOI was submitted.

Invitation Summary – 12 January 2026

A total of 1,135 invitations were issued in this round.

Visa Subclass 190:

General Stream (WASMOL Schedule 2): 279 invitations

Graduate Stream (VET): 22 invitations

Visa Subclass 491:

General Stream (WASMOL Schedule 2): 819 invitations

Graduate Stream (VET): 15 invitations

In total, 1,098 invitations were issued under the General Stream and 37 invitations under the Graduate Stream.

This highlights Western Australia’s continued focus on regional migration through the Subclass 491 visa and the strong demand for trade occupations across the state.

Other occupations such as Glaziers, Lift Mechanics, Stonemasons, and Wall and Floor Tilers were also invited at scores ranging mostly from 65 to 75 points, demonstrating strong demand for trades even at minimum point thresholds.

Graduate Stream – VET WA Graduates

WA-trained VET graduates who received invitations include:

Bricklayer – 80 points, EOI lodged 18 December 2025

Carpenter – 65 points, EOI lodged 17 December 2025

Wall and Floor Tiler – 65 points, EOI lodged 17 November 2025

This shows Western Australia continues to support its locally trained graduates alongside trade professionals from overseas.

What This Means for Applicants?

Skilled trade occupations dominate WA state nominations, particularly in construction, plumbing, electrical, and infrastructure-related fields. Many occupations received invitations at 65 points, highlighting strong demand even at minimum thresholds.

Applicants residing in Western Australia or working in priority industry sectors remain highly competitive, and WA is expected to continue issuing invitations regularly throughout the 2025–26 program year.
