This draw marks a pivotal moment in Canada’s immigration policy, as it shifts towards targeted invitations that align with economic and labour market needs. The focus on education occupations acknowledges the urgent demand for qualified teachers, early childhood educators, and support staff across the country.
Draw Details and Key Metrics
In this historic draw, 1,000 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for permanent residency were issued to candidates with experience in education-related professions.To be eligible, candidates were required to meet the following criteria:
Minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score: 479
Profile creation date: Candidates must have submitted their Express Entry profiles before 10:35:55 a.m. UTC on August 10, 2024, as part of the tie-breaking rule. This rule ensures fairness in cases where multiple candidates have the same CRS score.
The CRS threshold of 479 is notably lower than many of the general draws conducted in recent months, offering improved access for skilled workers in education roles.

This category-based draw targeted candidates with recent work experience in the following National Occupation Classification (NOC) 2021 codes:
NOC 41220 – Secondary School Teachers
NOC 41221 – Elementary School and Kindergarten Teachers
NOC 42202 – Early Childhood Educators and Assistants
NOC 42203 – Instructors of Persons with Disabilities
NOC 43100 – Elementary and Secondary School Teacher Assistants
These roles fall under TEER (Training, Education, Experience, and Responsibilities) levels 1 to 3, reflecting a range of professional qualifications from diploma-level to university degrees.
