Northwest Territories Nominee Program Resumes with Revised Allocations for 2025

The Northwest Territories Nominee Program (NTNP) has reopened its application intake for 2025, following a 50% reduction in its federal nomination allocation from 300 in 2024 to 150 in 2025.

Application Intake Period:

Opening Date:February 27, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. MT

Closing Date:March 6, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. MT

During this period, the NTNP will accept 90 new applications. This number accounts for 60 applications received in 2024 that exceeded the previous year's allocation and are now being processed under the 2025 quota.

Application Allocation Breakdown

Employer-Driven Stream (Yellowknife Employers): 70 applications

Entry Level/Semi-Skilled Occupations: 35 applications

Eligibility:Expiring work permit in 2025

Minimum of 12 months full-time employment with the nominating employer in the same occupation immediately prior to application.

Skilled Worker and NWT Express Entry:35 applications

Eligibility:Full-time, permanent job offer from an NWT employer

12 months of work experience in the nominated occupation and an expiring work permit in 2025,or 18 months of full-time employment with the nominating employer in the same occupation immediately prior to application.

Employer-Driven Stream (Employers Outside Yellowknife):10 applications

Entry Level/Semi-Skilled Occupations: 5 applications

Eligibility:Same as above

Skilled Worker and NWT Express Entry: 5 applications

Eligibility:Same as above

Francophone Stream or Employer-Driven Stream: 10 applications

Reserved for Francophone candidates.

Employer Application Limits:To ensure equitable access, the number of applications an employer can submit is based on their total number of NWT employees:

1-10 employees: 1 application

11-49 employees: 2 applications

50+ employees: 4 applications

Application Selection Process:

Applications will not be processed on a first-come, first-served basis. Instead, after the intake period, 90 applications will be randomly selected for assessment.Applicants will be notified via email about the status of their application.Selected applications will be assessed in order of work permit expiry dates.
