Northern Territory's New DAMA to Welcome 1,500 Overseas Workers Each Year

Northern Territory's New DAMA to Welcome 1,500 Overseas Workers Each Year

Australia's Northern Territory (NT) has secured a new Designated Area Migration Agreement (DAMA), effective from March 19, 2025, and valid until June 30, 2030. This agreement allows NT employers to sponsor up to 1,500 overseas workers annually,a significant increase from the previous cap of 625 nominations per year.
Key Features of the New NT DAMA:

Expanded Occupation List: The agreement now includes 325 occupations across various industries, up from 135 in the previous DAMA, addressing workforce shortages in sectors such as agribusiness, hospitality, tourism, and healthcare.

Flexible Requirements:The DAMA offers concessions on English language proficiency and salary thresholds, recognizing the unique circumstances of the NT labour market.

Pathways to Permanent Residency:Eligible overseas workers have access to permanent residency pathways, enhancing the attractiveness of the NT as a long-term destination for skilled migrants. This initiative aims to support business growth, ensure fair worker conditions, and bolster the NT economy by attracting and retaining skilled migrants
