New Brunswick Reopens Immigration Programs with Key Adjustments

New Brunswick Reopens Immigration Programs with Key Adjustments

New Brunswick has announced the reopening of its immigration programs with significant adjustments due to a reduced federal allocation of 2,750 nomination spaces for 2025. These spaces are divided between the New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program (NBPNP) with 1,500 spots and the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) with 1,250 spots. The province will prioritize sectors such as health, education, and construction, while restricting participation from other sectors.

Updates on Immigration Streams:

New Brunswick Express Entry: Will soon accept new Expressions of Interest (EOIs) under the Employment in New Brunswick and New Brunswick Interests pathways. However, occupations such as accounting technicians, administrative assistants, restaurant and food service managers, food service supervisors, cooks, and bakers are currently ineligible. The New Brunswick Student Connection will not be available in 2025.

New Brunswick Strategic Initiative: Not accepting new EOIs at this time due to sufficient existing applications. The In-Person Exploratory Visit, paused in November 2024, will not return in 2025.

New Brunswick Skilled Worker: Now divided into three pathways:

New Brunswick Work Experience Pathway: Requires at least six months of full-time, non-seasonal work with an eligible New Brunswick employer and residence in the province during that period.

New Brunswick Graduates Pathway: Open to graduates from programs eligible for a Post-Graduation Work Permit at a New Brunswick Designated Learning Institution, with a full-time, non-seasonal job offer from an eligible employer.

New Brunswick Priority Occupations Pathway: For candidates with a full-time, non-seasonal job offer from an eligible employer, obtained through a government-led recruitment mission, in specified priority occupations, and at least one year of related experience.

Certain occupations, including accounting technicians, administrative assistants, shippers and receivers, restaurant and food service managers, food service supervisors, cooks, bakers, bartenders, customer representatives, food and beverage servers, kitchen helpers, process control and machine operators in food and beverage processing, fish and seafood plant workers, and laborers in food and beverage processing and fish and seafood, are currently ineligible under this stream.

Private Career College Graduate Program: Accepting EOIs and set to conclude in autumn 2025.

New Brunswick Business Immigration: Accepting EOIs from applicants whose businesses have been operational for at least six months.

New Brunswick Critical Worker Pilot and Atlantic Immigration Program: Both are currently accepting applications without additional changes.

The provincial government is in discussions with federal authorities to address concerns about the reduced allocation and its potential impact on economic growth and business needs. Similar negotiations in other provinces have led to adjustments in nomination spaces.

Prospective applicants are encouraged to review the specific eligibility criteria for each stream and stay updated on any further changes to New Brunswick's immigration programs.
