IRCC Invites More Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) Candidates in Latest Express Entry Draw
18 August 2025 – Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has issued 192 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) in its latest Express Entry draw, targeting candidates in the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).
To receive an invitation in this round, candidates needed a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 800. This high cut-off reflects the additional 600 points that come with a provincial nomination, highlighting the growing importance of the PNP pathway for skilled workers aiming to secure Canadian permanent residence.
The draw also applied a tie-breaking rule, selecting candidates who submitted their profiles before February 11, 2025, at 19:17:09 UTC.
This is the second PNP-specific draw in August 2025, following earlier rounds that focused on categories such as French proficiency and healthcare occupations. With this latest selection, IRCC has now issued 53,320 ITAs through Express Entry so far this year.
Year-to-Date Overview
Total ITAs issued in 2025: 53,320
Recent PNP cut-offs: 739 (August 6), 788 (July 21), 706 (May 12)
Latest cut-off (August 18): 800
Why This Matters?
PNP remains a strong pathway: A provincial nomination almost guarantees an invitation to apply by boosting CRS scores significantly.
Competition remains high: CRS cut-offs for PNP draws continue to be among the highest, often above 700.
Targeted approach continues: IRCC is maintaining its strategy of category-based draws, ensuring Canada addresses both regional and national labour market needs.
The PNP remains a vital pathway for immigration, as a provincial nomination provides an additional 600 CRS points, effectively guaranteeing an invitation. However, the high cut-off scores signal the increasing competitiveness of the Express Entry system.
