New Brunswick PNP Reopens with Updated Eligibility Criteria and Occupation Restrictions

New Brunswick PNP Reopens with Updated Eligibility Criteria and Occupation Restrictions

As of March 5, 2025, the New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program (NBPNP) has reopened two Express Entry-aligned pathways for permanent residence:

Employment in New Brunswick Pathway: This stream is tailored for individuals who have been residing and working full-time for a New Brunswick employer for at least 12 consecutive months.

New Brunswick Interests Pathway: This pathway is intended for candidates who have received a Letter of Interest from Immigration New Brunswick (Immigration NB) in their federal Express Entry profile and possess at least one year of continuous full-time or equivalent part-time work experience within the past 10 years.

Key Eligibility Updates:

Age Requirement: The minimum eligible age has been reduced from 22 to 19 years.

Residency and Work Experience: For the Employment in New Brunswick pathway, candidates must now have been living in the province and working full-time for a New Brunswick employer for the past 12 consecutive months.

Common Eligibility Criteria for Both Pathways:

Express Entry Profile: Candidates must have a valid Express Entry profile.

Language Proficiency: A minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) or Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadiens (NCLC) level 7 in all four language abilities (listening, speaking, reading, and writing) is required.

Education: Applicants must hold a Canadian high school diploma or its equivalent.

Intention to Reside: Candidates should intend to live and work permanently in New Brunswick.

Age Range: Applicants must be between 19 and 55 years old.

Selection Points: A minimum of 67 points on New Brunswick’s Express Entry selection grid is necessary.

Excluded Occupations:

Certain occupations are currently ineligible for nomination under these pathways:

Accounting technicians and bookkeepers (NOC 12200)

Administrative assistants (NOC 13110)

Bakers (NOC 63202)

Cooks (NOC 63200)

Food service supervisors (NOC 62020)

Restaurant and food service managers (NOC 60030)

Retail and wholesale trade managers (NOC 60020)

Retail sales supervisors (NOC 62010)

These updates follow a significant reduction in New Brunswick's provincial nomination allocation for 2025, totaling 2,750 nominations—1,500 under the NBPNP and 1,250 through the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP).

Candidates interested in these pathways should ensure they meet all eligibility requirements and submit their Expressions of Interest (EOIs) accordingly. It's important to note that EOIs will not be processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
