Alberta PNP Program

The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP), formerly known as the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP), is Alberta's Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) that allows skilled and business-oriented individuals to apply for Canadian permanent residency if they can address labor and economic needs within Alberta.

Key Pathways Under AAIP:

Alberta Opportunity Pathway: This is aimed at skilled workers who can meet Alberta's labor market needs. It allows individuals with the required skills to be nominated for permanent residency if they have a valid job offer in Alberta.

Express Entry System: Alberta can select candidates directly from the federal Express Entry pool if they have an Express Entry profile and express interest in moving to Alberta. Selected candidates who receive a nomination will earn 600 additional points toward their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score, almost guaranteeing an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residency.

Business Immigration Pathways:

  • Farmer Self-Employed Pathway: This is designed for individuals with farming experience and funds to invest in and operate a farm in Alberta.

  • Overseas Graduate Entrepreneur Pathway: Tailored for international graduates with entrepreneurial aspirations who wish to establish or manage a business in Alberta.

How AAIP Works?

The AAIP is administered jointly by Alberta's government and Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). The process involves two main steps:

Provincial Nomination: Interested candidates apply for nomination through AAIP. If successful, they receive a Provincial Nomination Certificate.

Federal PR Application: Nominated candidates then apply to the federal government for permanent residency.

Each year, AAIP receives a set number of nomination spots from IRCC, which determines how many candidates the program can support. This structured allocation ensures the program aligns with Alberta’s labor and economic needs, making it an attractive option for skilled and entrepreneurial individuals seeking to settle in Alberta.
