Overview:
The India Young Professionals Scheme visa allows individuals aged 18 to 30 from India to live and work in the UK for up to 2 years. To apply, you must first be selected through the ballot system.
Eligibility Criteria:
To qualify for the visa, you must:
Be an Indian national aged 18 to 30.
Hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
Have at least £2,530 in savings.
Not have dependent children.
Application Process:
Enter the Ballot:
Confirm your eligibility.
Provide personal details: name, date of birth, passport information, contact details, and a scan/photo of your passport.
Participation in the ballot is free, and you can only enter once per ballot.
Wait for Results:
The ballot opens in January and July each year.
Results are emailed within two weeks of ballot closure.
If Selected:
You will receive an invitation to apply for the visa within 30 days.
Gather required documentation:
Valid passport.
Proof of funds (bank statements).
Qualifications documentation.
Police clearance certificate.
Submit Your Visa Application:
Complete the online application, pay the application fee of £298, and the healthcare surcharge of £940.
Ensure to apply within the 30-day window after receiving your invitation.
Processing Time:
After submitting, the processing time is typically up to 3 weeks.
Financial Requirements:
Maintain at least £2,530 in your bank account for 28 consecutive days, with the 28th day falling within 31 days of your application.
Benefits of the Visa:
Live and work in the UK for up to 24 months.
Study (some courses may require approval).
Work in most sectors or be self-employed, under certain conditions.
Limitations:
Cannot extend your stay or apply for public benefits.
Family members cannot be included in the application; they must apply separately.
Important Notes:
You cannot apply if you’ve previously held a visa under this scheme or the Youth Mobility Scheme.
You can travel in and out of the UK during your visa validity.
